DILLIDUR 400
Abrasion / Wear Resistant Steel • Nominal Hardness 400 HBW • Material Data Sheet (Edition: Oct 2023)
General Information
DILLIDUR 400 is a wear resistant steel grade with a nominal hardness of 400 HBW in delivery condition ex works. Its mechanical properties are achieved by quenching.
Due to its high resistance to wear, the steel is mainly used in mechanical engineering applications for structures exposed to high wear. DILLIDUR 400 is very wear resistant and also suitable for structures subjected to cold bending and welding.
Applications
- Mining equipment
- Earthmoving machinery
- Conveyors
- Construction machinery
- Recycling plants
Dimensions
DILLIDUR 400 is supplied as plate thicknesses of 6 – 120 mm. Other dimensions on request.
Mechanical Properties
| Thickness [mm] | Hardness (HBW) |
|---|---|
| 6 – 120 | 370 – 430 |
Brinell hardness measured according to EN ISO 6506-1, on surface 1 – 2 mm below plate surface.
Delivery Condition
Quenched.
Technical Properties
Welding
DILLIDUR 400 can be welded using conventional arc welding processes. Low hydrogen electrodes and appropriate preheating are recommended depending on plate thickness.
Machining
Drilling, countersinking and milling are possible with special tools designed for high strength steels.
Cold Forming
DILLIDUR 400 can be cold formed within certain limits. A sufficient bending radius must be considered. Preheating may be required for larger thicknesses.
Identification
Plates are delivered with material identification and markings in accordance with standards.
